Day 53 of the 100 Day Project:
Bee Balm, or Monarda, is a tricky flower to illustrate, particularly when you want to vectorize it and your color palette is very limited. I’ve tried unsuccessfully several times and think I finally nailed.
The sketch was done in Photoshop then brought into Illustrator where I traced over the rough sketch using the Pencil and Blob Brush tools. My goals was to create a lot of movement within each flower – a though they were dancing.
